Asisi Studio – learning and talking about visual culture

Skizze_Liebeskind

Asisi Visual Culture GmbH offers you a new series of educational events. At the Asisi Studio, Yadegar Asisi puts his idea of a school of drawing and perspective into practice. Additionally, space is created for lectures and discussions.

Asisi Studio – courses, workshops and lectures

From May 2010 onwards, you can learn to draw and experience all facets of visual culture at close quarters, under the personal supervision of Prof. Yadegar Asisi.
»Seeing, being amazed by what we see, drawing, understanding, taking action« - these are the words Yadegar Asisi uses to summarise his view of visual culture. For good reasons, drawing is the main point of interest – in his view, as an artist, it is »one of the fundaments of perception and by no means a skill reserved only for artists.«
Asisi Studio is the name given to this new series of events, as well as to new premises next to the Panometer Dresden comprising a drawing school, lecture hall and walk-in spatial illusion. Courses given at the Asisi Studio include a half-day introduction to perspective for school classes, lectures and a weekend course for adults specialising in artistic fields. In the future, it is planned to hold these events in other venues in addition to the Asisi Studio in Dresden.
In these courses Asisi, who has many years of experience as a university teacher, will demonstrate how three-dimensional construction and freehand drawing work. Studies of nature and three-dimensional seeing, the basis of all drawing skills, are the starting point of each course. At the opening lecture on April 29, Yadegar Asisi will approach the topic of »Drawing as a social challenge«.
